UWG Borken District

The Independent Voters' Association (UWG) Borken District is an association of independent voting groups from across the district. Since its founding in 1984, the UWG has advocated for citizen-oriented, non-partisan, and pragmatic local politics. It has been represented in the district council since 1989 and, together with the Bocholt City Party, forms a parliamentary group that currently holds five seats.


The Borken District UWG sees itself as a platform for citizens who want to actively participate in political decision-making at the district level – free from party doctrines and committed solely to the common good. Member groups include Ahaus, Borken, Gescher, Heiden, Legden, Raesfeld, Reken, Rhede, Schöppingen, Stadtlohn, Südlohn, Velen, and Vreden.

UWG Legden-Asbeck eV

The Independent Voters' Association (UWG) Legden-Asbeck eV is a free association of committed citizens from Legden and Asbeck who have been committed to objective, transparent, and citizen-oriented local politics since 1964. As a non-partisan force, the UWG represents the interests of both districts in the municipal council and various committees, without party discipline.


The UWG prioritizes the common good over individual interests, promotes volunteerism, and advocates for a family-friendly community, sustainable development, and the preservation of the cultural landscape. Members engage in voluntary work independently of party political affiliations.
